On the recommendation by a fellow UGA student, Mohr started working in the glamorous industry at age 24. She took part in Miss Columbus Miss Columbus pageant in 1985. After winning the title and smooching the winner and crowned, she beat all the contestants. On June 15, 1985, Miss Georgia was to be named in her honour. The 22nd of June she also was named the winner of the competition. Mohr later went on September of 1985 to compete for Georgia in Miss America 1986, a pageant held in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Mohr did not make it to the Top 10 Finalist for the Miss America title.
